The National Park protects a wonderland of inter-tidal and marine life. This area is one of the largest single unit "no take" Marine Protected Areas, including for fishing, in the world. Conserving 11% of South African's Temperate South Coast rocky shoreline and provides a baseline fore research on endangered fish species. In 1964 was proclaimed a National Park and became the first Marine National Park in Africa.
Garden Route, named for its magnificent beauty, it's a natural garden of mountains, forests, fynbos and water.
It is an 80km long rocky coastal strip between Nature's Valley and the mouth of the Storms River. With spectacular sea and landscapes, remote mountainous region with valleys covered in mountain Fynbos and high forests with deep river gorges leading down to the sea.
The Tsitsikamma National Park is the 3rd most frequently visited out of the twenty National Parks in South Africa.
